"The Southern Cross Transmission Project"

Our speaker, David Parquet, Sr. Vice President, Special Projects at Pattern Energy Group LP is leading the development of Pattern Development’s Southern Cross Transmission Project. This project is an up to 3000 MW High Voltage Direct Current transmission line that upon completion will connect the ERCOT and SERC transmission grids. David will discuss the genesis of the Southern Cross transmission project and how the project has evolved to the present. He will also review features of the project including its interconnections to the ERCOT and SERC markets and its technology, length, and benefits to each market. Also covered will be some of the implications of Texas’ new laws on the project.

David oversees the identification, origination and development of Pattern Development's transmission projects. With over 30 years of infrastructure development experience, he has led a number of strategic energy and environmental business initiatives, including managing one of the most successful gas-fired power project development teams on the West Coast, producing over 2,000 MW. In addition, David oversaw the conceptualization, development and construction of the Trans Bay Cable Project, one of the first independently developed and owned regulated transmission lines in the United States. He is a leader in developing new methods of energy project contracting and was one of the founding members of the Board of Governors of the California Independent System Operator Company. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University and an MBA in Finance from the University of California at Berkeley.
