“Meeting the Energy Demands of our Future”

Chuck McConnell, Executive Director of Rice University’s Energy and Environment Initiative (EEi), will focus on three themes that are essential in meeting the energy demands of our future:

• The fuel choices require an All-of-the-Above strategy with a real commitment by political leadership.
• The key to an All-of-the Above strategy is to ensure that Energy AND the Environment are addressed.  To choose one or the other is not a sustainable option.  Sustainability is not an environmental term exclusively but is a combination of environmental responsibility and energy security and affordability.
• The future of energy must be approached from a global perspective; it cannot simply be viewed through a U.S. lens.
