This is the fifth meeting of a series of breakfasts held in MexicoCity under the auspices of the Gulf Coast Power Association (GCPA). On this occasion we will discuss non-supplier marketers.

The format will be of panel discussion and we will have the participation of:

  • Brian Leeke, Trader, Vitol.
  • Salvador Alarcón, Founding Partner, Tradeon.

Al Garcia, Seguro Energy Partners: Al is an energy professional with a focus on developing and trading international markets. He joined Seguro Energy in May 2017, Previously, Al was responsible for business development of LPG markets in Latin America for EDF Trading, and for developing the firm’s view of Mexico’s energy markets. Al has also worked with Enron’s trading arm, based in Houston. After a short stint in Portland, Al transferred to Enron’s London office to develop and then trade Western European markets. After leaving Enron, Al worked as an energy trader for El Paso Energy and Merrill Lynch’s European desks in London. Al has been based in Houston since 2006. He has traded for Direct Energy and, after getting his MBA in 2011, focused his career on marketing liquefied gases as US exports boomed, working in those markets before shifting his efforts to Mexico in 2017.

 

Brian Leeke, Vitol: BA in Economics and History from Emory University, has more than 12 years of experience in the energy sector, 10 of them in marketing. He specializes mainly in the ERCOT market and also conducts commercial transactions in the gas markets in Texas and the generally along the Gulf coast and in West Texas (e.g. Henry Hub, Houston Ship Channel and Waha). Beginning in 2012, he has worked at Vitol, and has helped in the positioning of the company during its expansion to the Mexicanelectricity market beginning in 2016. Prior to Vitol, Brian worked with Citibank.

 

Salvador Alarcón, Tradeon Energy: is a founding partner and CEO of Tradeon Energy, the first consulting firm dedicated to intermediation and commercialization in the Mexican electricity market. For 16 years he was a financial markets trader in London, New York and Mexico for several banks such as Citibank, Morgan Stanley and ING. In his last position, Salvador was the General Director of ING Latin America, responsible for Fixed Income and Credit Derivatives in sovereign and corporate debt for Latin America. He holds a Master's Degree in International Securities, Investment and Banking Sciences from the ICMA Center in the United Kingdom.

 

Severo López Mestre, Galo Energy: López Mestre is an expert in energy policy and regulation with more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector in Mexico. He served as advisor to the Undersecretary of Energy Operations in the Energy Secretariat, in charge of designing the first privatization project in the oil industry, as well as the first electrical reform presented before the Congress. He is a principal partner of GALO Energy and a Law graduate from ITAM. In addition, he has graduate studies in regulation, politics and administration from The University of Chicago and The University of California at Berkeley.

  • Pre-registration closes at 12 noon Thursday, March 22nd. If registration is closed, walk-in registrants are welcome on a space-available basis at the event. There will be a $5/90 MXN surcharge for walk-in registrants.
