"Utility-Scale Battery Energy Storage – A Technologically Proven, Cost Competitive Solution That Can Solve Multiple Grid Problems"

Utilities and grid operators have begun to realize that battery energy storage is a technologically proven, scalable, and cost competitive solution to multiple problems that they face within their networks.  This is the result of three key factors that this presentation will address:  #1 - Innovative technological advances in system architectures and components; #2 - Recent system cost reductions; and #3 - A significant installed base of operating projects with multiple operating years meeting or exceeding operational expectations, resulting in the technology being perceived as proven.  This presentation will also discuss some examples of various grid problems and how battery energy storage can be a solution.

Our speaker Charles Vaughan is Vice President, Business Development – U.S. & Canada for AES Energy Storage, a division of the AES Corporation, a Fortune 200 global energy company (NYSE: AES).  He has over 15 years of experience in the energy industry focusing on wind, solar, and energy storage projects and has worked for project developers, equipment manufacturers, and services providers.  He has originated, negotiated and closed transactions worth over $3 billion and 3,000 mega-watts of energy capacity.
