"Trends in Renewable Energy Offtake Arrangements"

Over the last several years, the traditional model of securing a long term physical power purchase agreement to enable the financing of new generation has been challenged due to both market conditions and new market participants. This presentation will examine the power sales and offtake structures available to renewable generators looking to finance new generation in the current market, from traditional power purchase agreements to hedges and synthetic PPAs. It will also discuss the approach of different market participants such as corporate's buying renewable energy to achieve sustainability goals, traditional utilities and commodity traders.

Our speaker Jessica Adkins is a partner at Bracewell with over 15 years of experience advising clients in the electric power and renewable energy sectors on complex commodity and hedging matters in markets across the U.S. and Mexico. She has advised on some of the most innovative structures in the market, including the long-term wind hedge arrangement named  "2016 Commodity Deal of the Year" by Energy Risk Magazine. In May of 2016, she was named to a list of "Energy and Environmental Trailblazers" by the National Law Journal for her work. Jessica holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Rice University and a J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. She was also Fulbright Scholar in Spain.
