"Crystal Balls and Magic Tricks: Designing Your Strategy for the 2017 Legislative Session"

Every two years there is a haunting question that is asked by anyone involved in policy or politics in Texas: “what’s the legislature going to do THIS session?” We will explore this question as well as the more important question of what YOU should be doing to prepare yourself and your organization.

Patricia V. Hayes is the Principal/Owner of PVH Consulting Group, LLC, a strategy consulting and public affairs firm in Austin, Texas, where she supports executive-level leaders with professional services, including public policy strategy and analysis, senior management consultations, strategic planning, leadership development and training. Patricia has been involved in the legislative and public policy process for over twenty-five years, having begun her career as an unpaid legislative intern in the Office of the Governor as an undergraduate student.  Over the years, Patricia has built a solid reputation and stellar career working in, around, and for state government and the legislative process.  Few people today have the comprehensive background in education policy that she has, having actually practiced education law as well as represented educational interests in K-12 and higher education in both the public and private sectors. These skills and experiences have translated into other policy areas, including water, economic development and healthcare. A licensed attorney since 1994, Patricia graduated from the George McConnell School of Law at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government from the University of Texas at Austin.
