The Gulf Coast Power Association (GCPA) began its scholarship program in 2007 to provide assistance to students with an expressed interest in pursuing a career in the electric power industry.  As a non-profit organization, the GCPA believed it important to invest its surplus earnings in a manner that would benefit the electric power industry and support one of the primary purposes of GCPA…education.  The program’s goals are to assist deserving students in attaining their educational goals, encourage participation in the Texas electricity industry and to increase awareness of GCPA by investing in education within Texas and Louisiana.

GCPA, which originally started with a modest $3000 award, is now proud to announce that their distribution for 2017 will be $77,500 in scholarship funding.  As a result of this growth the GCPA and its Foundation will this year surpass $500,000 in total scholarships since it began.
