Featured Speaker at Houston and Dallas Luncheons for March 2010:

MARK BRUCE - Chair of ERCOT's Renewable Technologies Working Group

"ERCOT 2010: Major Issues and Events in the ERCOT Market
plus An Overview of the TX Renewables Integration Plan"

New debates are brewing within ERCOT as seen this week in The Wall Street Journal in the article "Natural Gas Tilts at Windmills in Power-Generation Feud":
"The (gas-wind feud) is taking place largely outside the public eye in committees of ERCOT. Gas generators are backing rule changes that collectively require millions of dollars of retrofits to existing wind farms and add new costs. (In Texas, a Houston based gas generator) proposed a rule to ERCOT that would require wind farms to pay a penalty if they can't provide scheduled power because the wind isn't blowing. The proposed change 'could turn back the clock' by forcing wind generators to promise low-cost power only during the windiest periods, said Mark Bruce."

Join us this month in Houston or Dallas as Mark Bruce, a consultant in the electric power industry and the new Chair of ERCOT's Renewable Technologies Working Group provides an overview of the Texas Renewables Integration Plan and discusses the major events planned for 2010 as ERCOT and market stakeholders grapple with the potential changes to come from the introduction of utility-scale solar generation, energy storage devices, and widespread adoption of distributed generation technologies. Other major issues to be addressed include the need for new or modified ancillary services, challenges to the ERCOT energy-only market design, and questions surrounding evolving technical standards for grid-connected equipment. Mark will focus on issues that will impact not only those interested in renewable resources but also all retailers and generators operating in the ERCOT marketplace.
