About the Program

GCPA is proud of our women in the electric power industry outreach program – emPOWERing Women, originally launched in 2013. In keeping with GCPA’s emphasis on providing superior educational and networking opportunities for our diverse membership, an increased focus on encouraging and empowering the development of women in our industry is a critical and logical next step in our industry outreach programming. By utilizing our existing college scholarship program and the relationships we have developed with Texas universities and technical colleges as a springboard for this much-needed group, emPOWERing Women will:

  • Actively offer opportunities for support, development and networking to women currently working in the electric power industry; and

  • Proactively encourage and inspire younger women pursuing technical degrees to consider careers in the electric power arena.

emPOWERing Women's Mentoring Circle

 

 

Please note: Both NEW and EXISTING Circle Members need to submit an application

 

Applications are due by Friday, Feb. 10th

 

Honor that New Year's resolution to get involved and meet other women in your industry!

 

Whether you are a current mentoring circle member or a newbie interesting in joining a circle, now is the time to submit your application for mentoring groups that will begin in March 2017. Everyone who wants to be in a mentoring circle needs to apply even if you are already in one. (Please note: if you elect to stay in your existing circle, you only need to send a completed application and do not need to send your resume.​)
 
The objective of the mentoring committee is to engage women who have the desire to make a difference and create an environment that provides support, mentorship, and diverse opportunities in an effort to develop exceptional women. Mentoring Circles will consist of groups of women that will meet monthly as scheduled by each individual circle. There is no need for formal mentor/mentee roles as they can develop within the circle. We will have at least two women in each circle willing to help schedule events for the individual mentoring circle. We will provide training, curriculum ideas/topics for meetings. Applications for mentoring circle members are due by COB Friday, February 10th. Information and the link to the application are below.
 
HOW TO REGISTER FOR 2017 MENTORING CIRCLES:
As our first step in setting up the mentoring circles with individuals who are looking to drive their careers through learning from their peers and mentors, we will need the following:

 
Our advisory committee will then match the applicants and contact you regarding next steps.
 
Additionally, please forward this announcement to other women in your organization who may be interested.
